In my trilogy, “The Chosen One of Allivar”, the main character Arimar was separated from his parents at birth. He has wondered about his family everyday of his life, wanting desperately to know of their fate. He is told by the Unseen, that one day their fate will be revealed by the presence of twins. Now Allivar means “The One Family”, not just siblings and parents, but that of the entire world of the seven races of living beings. Consider the following quote:
“Our most basic instinct is not for survival but for family. Most of us would give our own life for the survival of a family member, yet we lead our daily life as if we take our family for granted.” Paul Pershall
An overriding theme to my mythology is the rapid passing of time. Evil is immortal. Evil can be patient to fulfill its quest. Mortals are impatient, with each passing moment we come nearer to death. So we try to fill our days with as much activity to satisfy our own needs. We wake up in our middle ages and realize how quickly life passes and those that we have failed to give enough time to. Sometimes it is too late and regret, melancholy and depression set in. We humans take too much for granted. We fail to see our fellow man or woman as one of our human family.
My trilogy is packed with action, but at its heart is the story of mortal struggle and dilemma. Arimar must rise above his own needs to save the last heavenly world – Allivar. It is a story of altruism. It is also a story of faith in a higher being whose plans for mortals can only be solved by mortals. In this story, the seven races are separated by evil as much as Arimar is separated from his own family. Evil works to keep prejudice and bigotry alive, merely by the differences in our external appearances. For this reason, I created three races that do not resemble humans as we know them. This was done to connect us emotionally to someone other than ourselves. To give qualities we would admire in all human races.
I can assure the reader this much, you will be affected and you will think. What is our fate here on this blue ball? The final book “Last Stand of the Living” was drafted to be one of the most emotional books you will ever read. It is a story of brave men and women sacrificing themselves for something greater than themselves. Sacrificing for others different than themselves, sacrificing for the sake of the family and no longer taking any of them for granted. The characters are endowed with free will. They must make choices and they must make a final stand.
You too must take a stance. Today hug your children, parents and grandparents. Tell them you love them. Tell a close friend how much their friendship means to you. Be courteous to those with no courtesy. Embrace the uniqueness of someone different than you.
You must be the change you seek in this world for time is fleeting. You may not be given a second chance.
